This grant supports renters and flat owners with the cost of purchasing and installing electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints at their residential property.
Grant details
Application Components: Installer submits application; applicant provides property, vehicle, and personal details
Application Platform: OZEV installer-led application process (moving to Find a Grant platform from April 2026)
Decision Process: Eligibility checked before installation; installer claims grant after installation; OZEV pays installer
Funding Structure: Covers 75% of installation cost up to £350 per socket (increasing to £500 from April 2026)
important notes: Applicant must be a resident; property must be domestic; chargepoint must be installed at a property with private off-street parking; installer deducts grant from invoice
Ineligible Applicants: Individuals who own a house (not a flat), lodgers living with a landlord, applicants who have already claimed similar grants, or where installation is mandatory
Ineligible Costs: Installations required by law or planning conditions; duplicate claims under previous schemes
Key Organisational Requirements: Must own or lease an eligible electric vehicle; must have private off-street parking; must obtain necessary permissions (e.g. landlord or freeholder); must use an OZEV-approved installer and eligible chargepoint
Monitoring Requirements: Installations may be audited by OZEV
Objectives: To support uptake of EV chargepoints for people living in flats and rental accommodation
