Key Organisational Requirements
The applicant must be legally responsible for the building's external repair and maintenance. For the main CSS, the building must meet the applicable height, residential-use and cladding-risk requirements and have a qualifying Fire Risk Appraisal of External Wall (FRAEW) using the PAS 9980:2022 methodology. The FRAEW must be completed by a firm on the CSS-approved panel. (Find a Grant)

Important Notes
The main Cladding Safety Scheme is currently open. It covers eligible residential buildings over 11 metres, with specific rules for buildings in London, and closes on 31 March 2030. New funding has also been introduced through CSS for eligible multi-occupied residential buildings under 11 metres. Applications for the under-11m funding opened 17 August 2026 and close 9 October 2026.
